Aerobics Regionals
Last weekend our aerobics teams and individuals competed in the NZCAF Otago Regional Championships at Kavanagh College.
Saturday morning was an early start with our students and teachers there from 8 am and not getting home until 6 pm that night for the heats.
Our Carisbrook students showed up with great enthusiasm and a willingness to absolutely give it their all and try their best on a chilly Dunedin morning.
On stage, our students went hard, performed their routines with great energy and showed what great competitors they truly are. Off stage, it was an incredible show of sportsmanship and grace with our students cheering and supporting all competitors and making sure everyone was treated correctly and with respect.
On Sunday we were back at 8 am and headed home after a long but exciting weekend at 5 pm for the finals. We had our teams competing as finalists and Laura and John as finalists as individual performers. Again our students represented our school to an incredibly high standard, showing class, respect and sportsmanship to their highest standard.
Special mention has to go to our amazing coaches Destiny Carvell and Charlotte Roche who have coached our students on Sunday afternoons and even after school on Mondays as well.
Incredibly five of our teams have qualified for the National Competition that is being held in Invercargill later this term.
We would like to thank all of our whānau that came to support us, the amount of support from the teachers who came, the parents and Olivia Leonard who helped with hair and make-up. If we didn't have your help and support we wouldn’t have been able to do it.
We were beyond impressed and proud of how all our students represented Carisbrook and are excited for Nationals and the future of our aerobics at Carisbrook School. We were lucky to witness the older competitors. We sat awestruck at the talent and incredible level of technique and fitness that they showed. The progression from 1st-year talent to world competitors in Dunedin was fantastic to watch and made us all very motivated for future aerobic aspirations.
