Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, Māori Language Week

Kia Ora! Ko te Rāmere tenei rā, today is Friday, day nama rima of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori!

This week our kura have been celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, New Zealand's annual Māori Language Week. Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori is our chance as a kura to celebrate one of our national languages. This has been a fantastic way to keep the reo alive.

Our tamariki have been doing this through speaking Te Reo, learning about Te Ao Māori and singing waiata through their kapa haka performances at Polyfest. We have also had a competition running throughout the week. If students or staff have been heard speaking te reo or acknowledging te ao māori, they have been entered into a daily ticket draw. Each day winners are announced over the loud speaker winning various prizes.
