Calling for Pasifika Tutors – Join Us in Supporting Our Polyfest Group!

Ashleigh McClenaghan —

Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Bula vinaka, and warm Pacific greetings,

Our school is proud to celebrate the vibrant cultures of the Pacific, and we are looking for passionate and knowledgeable Pasifika tutors to support our students on their journey to Polyfest! We need community members who can teach our students traditional songs, dances, language, games, and customs to ensure they gain a deep and authentic connection to their heritage.

Polyfest is an incredible opportunity for our students to showcase their talent, cultural pride, and teamwork. To make this year’s performances truly special, we need the support of our Pasifika community. If you have expertise in any Pacific Island traditions and are willing to share your time and knowledge, we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for volunteers who can:

  • Teach traditional songs and chants

  • Lead cultural dance practices

  • Share knowledge of language and customs

  • Teach traditional games and activities

Your guidance will help inspire our students and strengthen their cultural identity. Whether you can commit to regular sessions or occasional visits, any support would be greatly appreciated. You will also be supported by a teacher from our school to help guide sessions and coordinate activities.

If you or someone you know is interested in helping, please contact Miss McC at ashleighm@carisbrook.school.nz or visit the school office.

Fa’afetai lava, vinaka vakalevu, malo ‘aupito, and thank you for your support in keeping our Pacific cultures strong!

Ngā mihi nui
