English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Carisbrook School is proud to support many diverse cultures through our ESOL Programme.
Upon enrolment at Carisbrook, a student’s English is assessed against the English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP) programme. The outcome of this assessment allows us to start a process that will empower a student to successfully interact within the New Zealand Curriculum.
In conjunction with classroom learning, English for Speakers of Other Languages classes provide practical language experiences and are designed to engage students in a culturally aware learning environment.
We aim to develop language skills through intensive exposure to the English language whilst maintaining existing cultural connections and importantly, forging new connections.
Individual progress tracking ensures we know the abilities of each student and can begin or continue on their ESOL journey.
Your child may be eligible for ESOL if:
- English is not their first language.
- They have come to New Zealand from another country.
- They are New Zealand born with at least one migrant parent.
Carisbrook welcomes you to our ESOL programme.
Kind Regards,
Richard Robson
