Carncot Independent School

Week 1 ... and looking ahead to Week 2

From the Principal's Desk ....

Our Term 3 is underway, with another new set of pupils and families to welcome into our school community!

We are planning to advertise a general open day, and an Information Evening specifically to promote our excellent Year 7 & 8 programmes, on Wednesday August 15th.  A mailbox advertising postcard is being produced for this purpose. It would be great if families would consider helping their children to pop these into letterboxes in the vicinity of their house.

Towards the end of this week, our top Science Fair projects will be on show at the regional science fair. We wish our budding scientists every success!

We have started the term with a focus on the virtue of 'thankfulness'. We have a lot to be thankful for! We are part of a close-knit school community in which we show tolerance and respect for each other. Today some lovely feedback was received by Wayne Macpherson, on the hockey sideline, when a parent from the Roslyn team came over after the game and said he was most impressed by the Carncot parents’ attitude on the sideline - the way we praised and encouraged and didn’t scold, not only our kids but Roslyn kids too. Well done, parents ... living the Carncot RICHER values!

"I am managing myself well ... "

by Owen Arnst

Recently, staff have been reviewing the Carncot School 'strike system' of consequences for unacceptable behaviour. As a school community we enjoy high standards of behaviour, and expect, high levels of interpersonal respect! Given the generally very high standards of behaviour that we are so proud of, we have sought to bring our previous behaviour management guidelines up to date, reflective of our current thinking and practices.
