Mya Phillips, 11, from Casebrook Intermediate is an athlete who represented Canterbury at a competition called 995 in Nelson and came 1st against Tasman for shotput and discus.

Mya’s role model is Valerie Adams and she is inspired by her. Throughout the years Mya improved in ability and got more comfortable around athletics. “Shot put is my favourite thing to do at athletics because it’s really fun,” Mya stated.

We can’t wait to hear about how Mya does in her future athletic competitions.
