ICON – Meet the Candidates for Christchurch Central

Candidates will introduce themselves and outline the issues they consider of importance for our electorate and the country. You are invited to submit questions you would like to put to the candidates. These will be circulated to them prior to the meeting and there will also be an opportunity for questions from the floor.

Rose Historic Chapel

The Rose Historic Chapel is located at 866 Colombo Street (between Bealey Avenue and Salisbury Street. It has been meticulously restored to its former glory following the 2011 earthquake and reopened in 2018.

It's beautifully set in pristine gardens and is a perfect wedding venue for any season, keeping participants warm and dry in colder winter months and cool and shaded by lush greenery on hot summer days.

This chapel is a heritage building owned by the Christchurch City Council, and is available to hire for wedding ceremonies for up to 95 people, and as a photography location. Charleston Neighbourhood Association - AGM

All residents are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Charleston Neighbourhood Association Inc. This will be held at Room 10, the Phillipstown Hub (on the former Phillipstown School site), entrance off Nursery Road on Thursday 12 October 2023 at 7 pm.

Supper will be provided. To assist with catering, please advise John or Jenny 389 3584 by 1 October if you wish to attend.

GirlGuiding NZ Northcote Pippin and Brownie units currently need Volunteers;

Do you have a desire to give back to the community and help build happy, confident, and resilient young women? Then becoming a leader in GirlGuiding could be for you. Our Leaders come from various places, ages, and backgrounds. No previous Guiding experience is needed; many of our leaders have never been involved before.

Our Pippin and Brownie units (girls aged 5-6,& 7-9½ years) need volunteer adult leaders to join them today!

Kiwi Rail -  Return of the Coastal Pacific train on the Main North Line this will be back in service shortly - Safety Reminder

  • Always expect trains from either direction and at any time
  • If you are in a car, always slow down as you’re approaching a level crossing and be prepared to STOP
  • Look out for trains at all times, and obey signs and signals
  • Stay off railway tracks and only ever cross the railway at approved level crossings.

General Election

Voting in the 2023 General Election starts on Monday 2 October and will end at 7pm on election day, Saturday 14 October.

Every vote counts

This is your chance to have a say on the issues that affect you, your whānau and your community.

You can find your closest voting place at vote.nz or call 0800 36 76 56.

Your vote is important - it’s time to make sure you’re enrolled and ready to vote in the election.

Resources are available in different languages, te reo Māori dialects, and alternate formats.

Voters who enrolled before Saturday, 10 September and have an up-to-date address on the electoral roll will receive an EasyVote pack in the mail before voting starts.

This pack includes an EasyVote card which makes voting faster and easier.

You can help your community to enrol and vote. People can enrol and vote at any voting place from 2 October up to and on election day, 14 October.

Together, we can make sure all eligible New Zealanders have their say in the 2023 General Election.
