Kapa Haka, Pasifika and Korean dance all performed on Friday evening at the Horncastle Arena, as part of the Christchurch Schools Cultural Festival

The performances were an absolute credit to all students and teachers. The high quality of items is a result of practises that have taken place through out the year and is a true example of where perseverance has resulted in excellent results. Well done and thank you to all students and staff.  A video will be released next week on youtube.

Last week our Boys A and Girls A basketball teams travelled to Tauranga to compete in the AIMS Games. Our Boys A team came 23rd out of 64 teams and our Girls A team came 13th out of 27 teams. Josh Rae was placed 1st for Para table tennis and 1st in Para cross country. Ava Rattray ran in the Cross Country and came 22nd out of nearly 200 students.  These are great results and everyone can be extremely proud of how they represented our school. Thanks to Courteney Bull, Eden Foster, Tom Straker, Kerry Aitken and Paul Isitt for taking the teams away.

It is now less than one week until the school production, the very timely  'White Lines - a History of New Zealand Rugby', opens. Class dances are well rehearsed, costumes sorted and all is ready for our first dress rehearsal this Friday.  As always, this is a massive undertaking but provides students with a great experience. 

I wish to thank and congratulate all staff; this show is truely a collaborative, team effort. A very special thank you goes to Genevieve Feron, the director, who along with Anna Kerr has written the script, and Kristen Sherwin who has done the choreography for the class dances.  I would also like to acknowledge Angela Hegarty for her support with the dance classes and her work with the specialist jazz and hip hop groups.

Thank you very much for your support in providing costumes and purchasing tickets. There are still a few tickets left for each night so please be in as the hall does have limited seating.

The experience of being in a production, over the three nights is both very exciting as well as tiring and so we offer students the OPTION of a late start on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. Formal class lessons will begin at 10:50am, immediately after interval but there will be teachers in classes from 8:20am as per a normal school day. The time your child starts on these days is totally your decision. If you require further clarification please contact me.
