The Playground Refurbishment

Akam Fatimapour & Vula Smith —

Recently the Casebrook Playground has undergone some refurbishments and is looking pretty flash. We caught up with caretaker Bevan Stace to ask some questions about the playground. One of the big upgrades was repairing the flying fox, which had been broken for a number of years.

How long was the flying fox broken for?

  • About 4 or 5 years.

Why did the flying fox break in the first place?

  • The wheels and the bearings collapsed.

How long did it take to fix it?

  • An hour.

Why is there only one playground in this school?

  • They’re trying to get you prepared for high school.

How long did it take to build the whole playground?

  • A couple of weeks to build it.

How much money did it cost to build the playground?

  • Can’t answer but would have not been that much.

Why are some of the things on the playground too high to reach?

  • It’s just the way they built it.

Can the playground be used as a fitness circuit?

  • Don’t know, but there is a metal sign saying Fitness Circuit 2005 -2007.

Was there another playground at Casebrook?

  • The other playground was the bars that are still there today.

Thanks for all your hard work Bevan, the playground looks great and everyone at Casebrook loves using it during morning tea and lunch.
