Mark Inglis visits Rm 1 and 2!

Charlotte Gardner —

Mark Inglis came to into Rm 1 and 2 a few weeks ago, to talk about mountaineering and his experience being trapped in a ice cave for 13 and ½ days on Mount Cook.

He spoke about what the conditions were like and how perserverance and a positive attitude were paramount to the survival of himself and climbing partner Phil Doole. Mark also talked about his experience climbing Mount Everest where he was the first double amputee in the world to reach the summit, which is really impressive. He made a slideshow and it included videos and stories from his crazy adventures.

Mark showed us his special boots that he used to climb Everest, which he had made himself, using carbon fibre. He is the only person in the world who has these boots. He also spoke about working as a team, the risks vs rewards of his experiences and how to look at the positives in all situations.

We really appreciated his time and effort coming in to talk to us!
