Tēnā Koutou Kātoa - Welcome back, it is great to have our vibrant young people return.

Sharon Keen —

Students have returned full of enthusiasm and with a new appreciation for school, their teachers and friends. Thank you for your engagement with the 'at-home learning' during the lockdown period, there was some amazing achievements which will be displayed and celebrated over the coming weeks.

This week we recognised the students who achieved a Term One Gold Badge for their Casebrook Challenge work.  The results were very pleasing considering the circumstances. We also recognised a number of Year 8's who achieved Super REP status.  Their photos will be added to the Super REP wall in the officer foyer.  These are the first celebrations we have held where we have been unable to invite whānau and so have included a range of photos in this newsletter.

Later in the term, you will be invited to a student-led conference with your child and their teacher.  This is an opportunity for your child to share their learning and for you to discuss their next learning steps.  This conference will combine the meeting normally held at the end of Term One and the learning conference in Week One of Term Three.

Over the next weeks, we will restart all of our activities, including holding sports trials.  It is important you follow the daily notices so that your child can come to school prepared.  Many sporting competitions will resume in Term Three, assuming we continue to go down the levels.

On behalf of all our staff, I pass on our sincere thanks for the support and positive feedback you have given to our teachers over the past weeks.  It was an unusual time for all and required staff to adapt the delivery of their programs as well as keep building on the relationships they have with the students in their classes.  We are very proud of what they achieved and appreciative of the positive responses they had from students and families.

School is quickly returning to normal but we do encourage you to remind your child of the importance of hand sanitizing or washing as they leave and enter a space as well as keep a reasonable distance from each other.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
