Congratulations to Casebrook's Rock Band 'Exit'. First place in the Canterbury Regional Rock Shop Bandquest competition.

Sharon Keen —

On Tuesday night Canterbury school Rock Bands performed in the regional Bandquest competition. The Casebrook entry 'Exit', composed of Sam Hicks, Dylan Webb and Hekeawai McDermott provided us with a fantastic performance, taking away first place. Sam also sharing the best vocalist award. The band will now compete in the National Competition. We will be watching their progress with interest.

The local Cantamath Competition was held yesterday and Casebrook had  a Year 7 and Year 8 team competing in the problem solving section.  Both performed very well in the challenging environment.  We also had a number of static displays that received awards.  From Monday these will be on display in the school foyer so do come in and have a look at what our students have created.

Our Chess Team has also been very successful in the local competition and have been invited to Auckland to compete in the Nationals.

Fantastic results from such a diverse range of groups.  Congratulations to the students involved and thank you to staff for making it all possible.

The focus here at school for the remainder of the term is our school production.  Your child will soon be bringing home information.  When tickets go on sale I recommend that you purchase them asap as we often sell out.

On behalf of the staff I would like to thank you all for your support during the strike day.  Here at Casebrook we are very fortunate to have all our teaching positions filled with quality teachers. That is not the case in many schools across the country plus we all have growing concerns around the expectations placed on our teachers.  We need great support available to schools so that all students have equitable access to education.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Regards
