Te Kura Mareko's Pasifika Leadership Team is giving back to their local school communities.

As the number of Pasifika students continues to grow at Te Kura Mareko the need for a leadership team to be created was noticed. 2022 has seen the introduction of this leadership team.

Their first focus has been going into our local primary schools and teaching the sasa to them. The students; Zayden & Nysha who are our leaders have taken this role very seriously and led with confidence and pride.

The group has worked in Bishopdale and Papanui School so far; with the hopes to work in some of our other contributing schools as the year progresses.

It has provided our Pasifika leaders an opportunity to share their passion, knowledge and culture with our younger students and it has been awesome to see it come alive.

Their next mission is to promote Samoan Language Week within our school and across our Kāhui Ako.
