The last two weeks of our term are packed with a wide range of events, some serious and others fun. Earlier this week we were treated to an outdoor concert followed by a House Tug of War. We then move into our final assemblies on Thursday, next week our Big Days Out and the Year 8 formal. We look forward to seeing you at these events. The formal, next Thursday is the final Casebrook event for Year 8 students but Year 7's attend on Friday 18, with school closing for the year at 12 noon.

All lost property will go on display on the tech lawn Thurs 17th Dec. It will be cleared at lunchtime and any remaining items will be donated.

Is there a book that has been lying around for a while? Maybe it is an overdue library book or School Journal from class? Items can be left in the returns bin in the library at any time. All library books were due back Thursday 3rd December.

The Community Dental Service will be providing dental care for children enrolled with our service during the upcoming school holidays.

Last day for this year is Thursday 17th December and the canteen will be open at morning tea and lunch time to sell any remaining stock (no lunch orders sorry).

If you would like to help fundraise by donating your child's school uniform to the school then Year 8's will be having a mufti day to make this easier. Please bring uniform to the classroom.

During Term 3, Room 13, Room 16, and a writing extension group wrote essays about an event marked by adversity. From these groups, 18 students (9 from Year 7 and 9 from Year 8) were chosen to be entered into a national competition.

Nicola McLachlan, from Room 13, has been trampolining for 4 years. She has been in the competitive squad for 2 to 3 years.

On the 30th of October, the Casebrook A and B teams went on a trip to Dunedin to compete against the best teams in the South Island, such as Cobham A and Balmacewen.

Art this term has been a great experience for students to learn new techniques and designs they had never thought of.

On Monday the 30th of November and Tuesday the 1st of December, five students participated in a nation wide chess tournament.

The 03’ Collective, a dance showcase held on the 7th of November. Many studios across Christchurch came together to raise money and awareness for mental health.

Last weekend, Miss Mckenzie participated in the F45 Christchurch Challenge. Below are some questions that Will and I have asked her about the struggles and accomplishments.

Cupcake extension was held on a Wednesday afternoon. It was run in the foods room by Mrs Dick-McCann and Mrs Davanney. It is a great opportunity to have some fun and create a masterpiece.

On Friday the 27th of November the Casebrook Staff suited up to play against the Casebrook Boys A basketball team.

Recently, Casebrook Intermediate bought ten new robots for their digi tech room! They are called LEGO Spike Primes. They can be coded to do sumo wrestling and drive around. Students in the Epro8 group in the digi room work on these robots every Tuesday, building them and getting them ready to sumo (Mr Mutch’s wish).

On Monday the 30th of November Miss Sherwin, who teaches in Room 10, became a fully registered teacher! We interviewed her about the night.

The Year 8’s have lots to look forward to these coming weeks including Year 8 Prize Giving, Big Day Out and the formal.

Canterbury Cricket came to Casebrook Intermediate to teach all classes some cricket skills and have some fun.

Earlier this year, John Clark, Miss Clark’s dad, cycled from Cape Reinga to Bluff. On Friday the 27th of November, John came to Room 13 to talk about what happened.

Last Blast was the CO2 car racing event that happened on Sunday the 6th of December, between 1pm and 4pm. Over fifty carved, sanded and painted blocks of balsa wood were fired across a 20m race track going from Room 5 to Room 8 using the power of Carbon Dioxide.
