Last week our boys who have been involved in the Tama Tū, Tama Ora programme invited their parents in for a shared lunch and during the time they shared their writing experiences and samples. This programme has had a very positive influence on the boys attitude to writing and has also developed their confidence to give things a go. Thank you to Mr John McBride for his work with the group and we look forward to a group of Year 7 boys having similar experiences next term.

The Casebrook hockey team has had a great season so far, all games have been a challenge and have helped us grow as a team.

Matthieu is a Year 7 student at Casebrook Intermediate and had been doing Gymnastics in his own time, but he didn’t enjoy it that much so he swapped to Trampolining. He now enjoys what he does. The person that inspired him to do these activities was Dylan Schmidt, an Olympic Trampoliner, he was interested in what Dylan did and wanted to give it a go.

Canteen specials coming up in Term Three: Hot cakes with maple syrup, Beef or Vege Lasagne and Crispy chicken rolls along with ever popular Sushi and Potato wedges still on the menu.  

Book the babysitter, round up your friends and come along to quiz night. Everyone welcome, test your general knowledge while raising much needed funds for the school. Spot prizes, raffles, fancy dress optional (prize for best dressed). This is a great night not to be missed. 

During Term 1 and 2 Room 12 and 14 participated in integrated inquiry with Mrs Dick-McCann, we all did different things. Josh, Aston, Connor, Tuhoe, Dayton and Riley were in an inquiry group called 2 Da Rescue which was set up to try and reduce their carbon footprint.

This season the Casebrook rugby team has had an okay start, winning two games out of five which is pretty good considering we are still getting to know each other. If we keep on playing like we do, we will be able to win more games. 

Kapa Haka is an important cultural part of our school and has 40+ students in our group.

Casebrook Intermediate is filled with heaps of opportunities and Wheels Wednesdays is one of them. 

At Casebrook there are lots of choices for Hagley sport. Kohana and I chose netball. Hagley netball gives you the opportunity to learn and meet new people but most importantly it gives us a chance to play sport because there are lots of people who don't have time to play in the weekend.

This season the girls Hagley Football team is doing very well, we have won all of our games, except one.

Casebrook students have been busy in the Art Room creating amazing artwork with their new teacher Mr Larsen. 

Kieran and I are student leaders, and our job is to work with other people to make Casebrook Intermediate better for students here.

In September the girls A basketball team are travelling to Tauranga to compete in the 2017 AIMS Games.

Neon is an after school activity program run by Connor, Shaun and a few other people. It is near the Papanui RSA, close to Northlands Mall. 

At Casebrook Intermediate there are lots of different responsibilities that you can take up, Asha and K’leigh from Room 12 help at the canteen during Morning Tea and Lunchtimes. They asked each other some questions about what they do… 

For inquiry we were apart of the BP challenge group. BP challenges are when people form into groups to create something, using everyday materials provided by the teachers, Mr Straker and Mr Stribling.

Tama Tū, Tama Ora is a programme to help Year 8 boys with their reading and writing. It is run by the marvellous Mr McBride in Room 15. 

During Week 4 of Term 2 I made a narrative about bullying and entered it into the bully-free competition and I was one of the winners and won $200 for the school. This is what the judges had to say about my piece of writing “your entry was an insightful piece of story-telling - with a good structure and plot, and a positive and brave outcome.” Here is the story for you to read and enjoy..
