Marcus Akuhata-Brown and a team of inspiring young leaders spent Wednesday morning with us.  We started with a whole school assembly where Marcus shared details of his personal journey through his school years and as a young man. The group then spent time working with classes and with our young leaders. The emphasis was very much on the value of believing in your personal worth, setting goals and working hard to achieve those goals.  Also important was recognising the consequences of the choices we make.  The take home message from Marcus  was, 'If it is to be, it is up to me.'

Head on down to Northwood New World this weekend from 10.30am - 2.30pm (Saturday and Sunday) and purchase a sausage sizzle from our Girls Basketball team.

Orders are being taken for cheese rolls as a fundraiser by the School Basketball team. The team will be travelling to Tauranga to take part in the NZ AIMS Games in September.

Last night, students from Casebrook Intermediate participated in the Otago Daily Times Spelling Quiz at Clearview School, Rolleston. 

Each year as part of the Outdoor Education programme, Casebook Intermediate provides the opportunity for students to experience skiing or snowboarding. Your child has the opportunity to participate in this event on Thursday 10th August, Term 3 .

Hi my name is Isabella and I am a year 7 in Room 8. In May I completed my dance medal tests and got two gold medals - one gold medal was for ballet and one gold medal was for jazz. In total I now have 11 medals - 9 gold and 2 silver. I have 5 badges from over the years from pre-primary up to grade 3. I have done ballet since the age of 6 and jazz since the age of 9. I am in grade 4 for ballet and grade 5 for jazz. I really enjoy doing dance and it is just one of my hobbies. I also love to do trampolining, art, hip hop and gymnastics in my own time. When I get older I want to be a great dancer as well and I will strive to achieve this goal.

The Crusaders are battling the British and Irish Lions on Saturday evening at AMI stadium - we are supporting them with a Red and Black (only) free mufti day on Friday this week.

Calling all Casebrook bakers! We are looking for Casebrook students who love to bake, to enter in a student organised competition.

At Casebrook Intermediate students are given the opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities throughout the year to extend their interests and learning. 

On the 31st of May Casebrook welcomed Marcus Akuhata-Brown with a powhiri.  

Every Tuesday, two students from each class participate in what is called the “Super Tens” on the court and/or field. This will culminate in a tournament to be held at the end of the term. 

This term Room 6 decided to do Genius Hour for Inquiry.

On Wednesday the 17th of May, Room 1 went on a class trip to the water pumping station and South Brighton Beach, as part of their inquiry study on sustainability. 

Here at Casebrook Intermediate we pride ourselves in the wide variety of sports groups that go to Hagley every Tuesday to represent our school in the selected sports of Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Boys Football, Girls Football and Rugby League. 

Last Wednesday, Mrs Austin organised a pink ribbon lunch for staff members in order to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This was held at the staff room. 

Casebrook have now entered Week 6 of Term 2 and our 4th session of Tuesday sports and activities at school. 

On Friday 23rd June we will be having a mufti day. Students please bring a wrapped chocolate treat or similar item to be used in our upcoming Quiz Night fundraiser. Thank you for supporting the Casebrook Intermediate PTA.

Thank you to the students and caregivers that have sold chocolate bars in our annual Cadbury fundraiser. We still have a small amount of money outstanding which is now overdue.

This year's quiz night will be held on Saturday August 12th, look out for more details closer to the time. Thank you to Hoyts Northlands, Peter Timbs Meats and Copenhagen Bakery that have offered to donate prizes for this event.  We still need more prizes.

At St John all of the districts have a competition, this was held in the weekend at Hillmorton High School, and I was one the people that got to go to the competition from Christchurch No 3 Division.
