REDWOOD-PAPANUI COMMUNITY OF SCHOOLS PRESENTS OUR INAUGURAL STUDENT EXTRAVAGANZA
On behalf of the Redwood-Papanui cluster of schools we welcome you to a community evening and celebration of our students’ wonderful achievements this year. This event will involve performances from a number of schools in the cluster and several enjoyable and entertaining activities for students to participate in. There will be a huge range of performances on display to entertain our wonderful community involving song, dance, instrumental and cultural items.

On Monday, 14th December, Casebrook Intermediate is taking the whole school to Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort. We have organised this ‘Big Day Out’ as a way of saying thank you to our students for their positive attitude and commitment towards our school community this year.

Congratulations Amy Britten, Meg Lancaster, Hannah Lemon, Courtney Linkhorn, Maxine Sherriff, Shontay Simpson. These students began flute last year and have worked incredibly hard. They all sat a Trinity College of London grade 2 flute exam and passed with flying colours. Well done girls!!!

As a part of our Science program this term a mixture of 75 students from Rooms 2, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 12 went to visit the “Mirror Magic” exhibit at the Canterbury Museum. The students were able to reflect on their Science learning outside of the classroom and explore the world of mirrors from all different angles.

If your child has outgrown their uniform or if they are moving on to High School and it is no longer needed we welcome donations of second hand uniforms. These items can be dropped into the school office.

Students have now brought home a book of ten raffle tickets. Tickets are $2 each or $20 for a book of ten and we have some awesome prizes up for grabs. If you do not wish to sell all the tickets please return them as quickly as possible so that they can be sold by other families. Keep track of your tickets as they have been allocated by number to each student and are marked off on their return to school. All sold ticket stubs and money need to be returned to school by Friday 4th December. The raffle will be drawn on Tuesday December 8th with winners contacted by phone and results published on the school website. If you are able to sell more tickets then books of ten can be collected from the canteen. A $50 Northlands mall voucher will be presented to the top seller in both year seven and eight so please support your child’s school by getting behind this fundraiser and selling tickets.

Rooms 2, 3, 9, and 10 learned about the challenges of sailing across the Atlantic. Students were able to hear a first hand account and hear lessons learned from the voyage. Students tried on the gear and were timed on how quickly they could dress and undress. They also gained perspective on what we take for granted (like toilets and a hot shower) living on land!
