Message from the Principal
Kia ora e te whānau
Wow! What a busy hum of activity we have around here as we look forward to the CAS Festival on Sunday. A huge thank you to Zoe and your team of enthusiastic stall holders, idea generators, and supporters! It’s such a beautiful example of our strategic goal for a Connected Community, and our school value of mahi tahi- working together. Our children are VERY excited! It’s wonderful to have some performance groups throughout the day- starting with our school Kapa Haka- showcasing their culture and talents, and a delicious array of food representing some of our cultural diversity too, alongside our classics like Bumper Boats, candy floss, and spiders!
Swimming wraps up this week, just as Autumn shows its colours for us! It’s been great to see the progress children have made in their lessons- the solid block of lessons is a fantastic way of amping up the progress. Thanks for your support with getting the togs and towels ready each day so that children can participate, and a big thank you to our EasySwim team for their expertise.
Team colours in our assembly this Friday
In our assembly this Friday our teams will be sharing some of the learning they have done about the meaning of their team name. These team names were chosen last year to represent important aspects of our area, and to reflect learning qualities and progress.
If possible, we would love it if children could be dressed in their ‘team colours’ on Friday.
Korimako- Our Year 1s in Rooms 10 and 12 in Blue
Harakeke- Our Year 2s in Rooms 7 and 9 in Green
Kahikatea- Our Year 3 and 4s in Rooms 1, 3, 4, 5 in Red
Tarikākā- Our Year 5s and 6s in Yellow/Gold
Maths Curriculum Teacher Only Day, Monday 31st March
Coming up in a few week's time we will be closed on Monday 31st March while CAS teachers have a Curriculum PLD day with a facilitator. As you know we are implementing a new maths curriculum this year, and these days are provided by the Ministry of Education to continue to upskill our teachers. Our maths data over the years shows that maths teaching and learning is a strength at CAS, and we are looking forward to building on what we already do!
Thank you for your support, and look out for the notice from Y Central about the programme they are running for the day.
