Message from the Principal
With only three weeks of the school year to go, we’re a hive of activity around here! Gone are the days of quiet winding down towards the finish line that I remember from my primary school days. Our children continue to progress at pace through their usual mathematics, reading and writing programmes (with some really exciting data in their Term 4 assessments!) as well as participating in the EasySwim water safety unit, enjoying end of year trips, and practising for our end of year celebrations. It’s a vibrant mix of solid routines, ‘business as usual’ and exciting events!
A big thank you to all of our parent helpers who continue to support our EOTC trips and activities- we’ve had several sports trips as well as the team activity days, and we’ve been so grateful for your time and support- your enthusiasm and care makes these trips and events even more positive for our children.
Our Community Helpers Morning tea is next Wednesday at 10:30am in the staffroom. This will be shortly after our special farewell assembly, you might have time to be at both! WE do appreciate it’s a really busy time, so if you’re not able to make it to the ‘thank you’ morning tea, please accept our thanks for everything you’ve done to support CAS this year. We really are a school with a connected community for our children.
Next week we will farewell staff who are leaving us in our special assembly on Wednesday 4th December, 9:05am. As you know we will be farewelling Bridget, Monique, Korrie and Bella. We will also acknowledge and farewell Angela Murie, who has been with us as our SENCO and our assistant SENCO since 2017. Angela is retiring after nearly 50 years in education. She has worked in an impressive range of roles; teaching, leading and supporting our children who need specialist support. We reckon she will have impacted the lives of thousands of children in her career.
Tom, our amazing teacher aide, is also moving on from CAS at the end of the year, to study towards becoming a teacher. I know so many of our children have loved Tom’s caring, empathetic and supportive style at After School Care and in class.
In next week’s assembly we will also have leavers certificates for those students In Years 1-5 who are moving on to other schools next year.
We look forward to seeing you at the Wellington North Rotary Khandallah Fair on Sunday 8th December. Our CAS bands are performing, as is our CAS Christmas Choir. Huge thanks to Sean, Bridget and Kezia for organising these performances!
