@school Mobile Caregiver App

Cashmere Avenue School uses a caregiver app called @school Mobile that provides parents with easy access to streamlined information about school and information recorded about your child. It also allows parents to easily report absences. You will be sent an email on Thursday that includes your individual login information if you haven’t previously logged into the app.

Please watch the youtube video linked below before downloading the app:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qync2BFaHCA

We will add additional functionality to the app over the next year, but we encourage you to use the app to:

  • Report absences

  • Read the latest newsletter

  • Check account statements

  • View the school calendar

  • Check your child’s details, including Emergency Contacts

The app will also allow us to notify you in case of an emergency, when your child may need to be picked up early. Once you’ve downloaded the app, please go to settings to enable notifications to make sure you receive information from school in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please let the office know.

Beginning School Information Session

Our first Beginning School Information Session for those with new entrant children (or if you know of anyone who is interested in coming to Cashmere) is on Wednesday 1 March at 9am in the staff room.  Linda Palairet, our New Entrant Coordinator talks about the transition to School and what to expect.  The session finishes just after 10am and then our student councillors will give a tour of the School to those who wish to.

Pōwhiri

Our first Pōwhiri of the year to welcome staff and new tamariki and their whānau to our Kura is on Friday 17 February at 9.30am.  New families meet at the Waharoa (front gate) and are welcomed to our school through the Pōwhiri.

Sunsmart

In Term 1 all children should have a named sunhat. The children need sun hats that provide sun protection to the ears, neck and face. Bucket hats, legionnaire caps or “cricket”- style hats are all suitable. From next week students without a hat will remain in designated shade areas during intervals. Suitable hats are available at the office for $15. This can be added to your student account and we must have permission from a parent or caregiver before we sell a hat to a student.

Pedestrian Crossing

The new patrollers are on duty. Training took place last year and they will be taking a refresher course with the Schools Community Constable in the coming weeks. Please be patient, follow their instructions and help set a good example to our tamariki as we help them cross the road safely.

As a general reminder to pedestrians using the crossing please remember the patrollers have clear guidelines for when it is safe to call, and are required to state ‘Signs out, Check, Clear, Cross now’ before letting people cross. Please wait for the ‘Cross now’ before stepping onto the road. The rostered supervising parent will ensure the patrollers are following the guidelines and may remind you if you are doing it wrong! Again, thank you to all those parents and children who use the crossing patiently and with consideration for driver and pedestrian safety.

Senior Camp & Patrols

Wednesday 22 - Friday 24 February 2023

Our Year 5 and 6 tamariki and teachers are looking forward to their camping experience at Kaitoke in a couple of weeks. We will have the orange cones out on Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon right outside the school for the buses. Please note there will be no patrollers from Wednesday afternoon until Friday morning but an adult will be on duty to make sure the children get across the crossing safely.

School Photos

Inspire will be back on Wednesday 26 April for our annual school class and individual photos.  Sibling photos will take place on Thursday 27 April.  Further information will be sent out nearer the time.
