Whanaungatanga and Road Safety

Spotlight on our School Value: Whanaungatanga “We Connect to Belong”

At this time of year our school value of Whanaungatanga shines through. As a school we are so lucky to have many different people connecting, and supporting each other and our school- our Board, our Home and School, and our Whānau group are some of our key groups that connect, and support us with our planning, to ensure we are the best we can be for all of our learners. I felt the value of whanaungatanga at our Home and School meeting this week, as our amazing committee updated us with the incredible fundraising and community activities they have organised this year- opportunities for our children and our families to connect, and to work together for the benefit of our school. This week we are purchasing some more ipads, which our younger students will use in their learning programmes. Thank you for your support of all of our Home and School fundraising events this year and enabling us to purchase new ICT devices for our school!

I’m also looking forward to our Whānau hui this evening as we take time to connect together, and to reflect on some of our mahi/work from this year, and plan ahead for what might be for 2024 and beyond.

Due to a few changes outside of our control we’ve ended up with an extra busy week of exciting activities! Our Seniors are starting their water safety lessons this week (weather and pool temperature permitting!), our Middles are heading to Maraeroa for their Noho Marae tomorrow, and our Juniors are off to a Sports Day at Akau Tangi sports centre on Friday! We wrap the week up with the “Not Too Spooky” Disco- what an amazing way to celebrate a very vibrant week!

Road Safety:

Some of you will be aware that there was a collision between two cars yesterday on Cashmere Avenue, in front of school, at drop off time. The incident seems to have been influenced by a car parked on yellow lines, causing a blockage and visibility issues. The drivers were very shaken and distressed, but luckily unhurt. Although it gave everyone a big fright, we are hugely relieved that no CAS children were affected by this incident. Please only park in safe, designated areas, and take extra care when turning and reversing. And another reminder, please do not do u-turns in and out of our staff carpark, or near the pedestrian crossing.
