Kia ora te whānau

I loved seeing our Northern Zone cross country runners return from their events yesterday afternoon- muddy shoes, flushed faces and proud smiles! Our parent volunteers raved about the effort and positive attitudes that our CAS children showed. Some of our junior runners are competing at the junior Northern Zone event next Thursday - we wish them all the best. What a fantastic opportunity for them to experience an event with other schools in our area!

On Staff Only Day at the beginning of this term, we had an opportunity to look more closely at the refreshed curriculum that is being rolled out for schools. The key shifts in the refreshed curriculum are: moving from acknowledgement to authentic understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, broadening the view of what success looks like for our learners, and setting high expectations for all. These shifts resonate so well with what we focus on already at Cashmere Avenue School. A phrase used in the curriculum roll out is “ensuring all ākonga/students are cared for as people and supported as learners”. This is at the heart of our own school vision equipping learners to explore and thrive together.

Pōwhiri and Production

You will notice that we have postponed our pōwhiri and our school production in response to recent staff and student absences, to give ourselves a bit more time to prepare. Our pōwhiri is next Thursday, at 1:45pm. If you are available, it would be wonderful to have you here, welcoming our new students and their families. Our production is now 29-31 May. There will be more information about ticket sales and show times coming through shortly. Our Year 3-6 children are working so hard in preparation for our production and it’s delightful to see their joy in the performing arts shining through!
