Senior classes have been learning how to conduct Statistical Investigations for maths this term. Room 16 has been focusing on our learner capabilities of critical thinking and creativity as we worked through the five stages of the Statistical Enquiry Cycle - Problem, Plan, Data, Analysis, Conclusion (PPDAC). We used our creativity to plan our own world record mini challenges using the DIY World Record School Kit. Have you ever wondered how high lego blocks can be stacked while balancing a book on your head in 1 minute? This was one of the challenges we measured and collected data for. Then we used our critical thinking skills to analyse the data and write statements about what we noticed. Many students showed their growth mindsets as they adapted their challenges to use different equipment or ways of measuring to ensure they could collect accurate data.
