Student Council Review 2022

Student Council 2022 has been super successful this year.

The first thing we did was a movie dress up and it was a great start to the year with many people enjoying it and $230 was made. Favourite movie character day was an absolute hit!

One of our first suggestions was a sandpit stool for the shorter seniors to clip the roof. We discovered that a parent was thinking the same thing. We worked with them and they were going to build it. We hope they manage to do this.

After some fundraisers we were going to buy a lunch table outside the library so people could eat around the table. It was a great idea.

Lost property monitors was something that was lower on our list of favourite ideas. The reason being it didn’t work out and some of the monitors didn't work very hard.

We continued the yearly tradition of pink shirt day and joined in on the NZ wide activity of folding paper cranes.

We had some correspondence of children's hospital not having PJ’s for the winter. So we had a PJ day to raise money for the hospital. We raised $341.

We had left this since the end of last year but decided it was finally time for the tinker table. Noah had all the pieces and permission but just didn’t have the time and even at the end of the year this long term idea would take longer than we thought.

Royal Day was a fundraiser but was also a remembrance of the Queen. We raised $225.

Make a Movie Event was one of the best and most successful suggestions we got. We decided to have kids make some movies and we would present them in syndicates. We also decided to have a PJ day on the same day. We thought that watching movies and being in your PJ’s while eating was great. We managed to raise $325 which was more than enough. The student Council would like to make it a yearly event so every year we can have this event.

Sadly one of our school's “traditions”, pack the bus, would not be happening this year.  AnneMaree made an arrangement with the salvation army and suggested at assembly to donate to them instead.

A suggestion that decided half way through would not be possible would have to be getting a swing. It was too expensive and just took up so much space. Although we decided on the alternative of getting some equipment to play with at morning tea and lunch. The final decision was one cornhole, a 3.6 meter parachute and perhaps a frisbee net.

Overall student council 2022 was amazing and not just because of the things we did but because of the people we got to cooperate with.
