Fun Day

What an amazing Fun Day we had on the weekend! How good to have our community spending time together, having fun. A huge, huge thank you to Zoe Gray, the organising committee, the wider Home and School team, our sponsors, our Board, staff, and all of the parents who baked, created, organised, donated, promoted (and more!) to make the Fun Day the wonderful success it was.

Movin’March

This week marks the end of Movin’ March. We have seen so many children walking, scooting, biking their way to and from school. We’ve given out a LOT of spot prizes, and every completed and named passport also goes into the draw-with passports from other schools in Wellington-to win some awesome big prizes. I’d also like to acknowledge our School Patrollers and our Parent Volunteers who support them - you are helping our children to cross the road safely to and from school each day.

Scooter Safety

We have had a few scary ‘near-misses’ with children zooming across the road in other places on their way to and from school - particularly those on scooters. Members of the public, and some of our own community parents have had a huge fright. Does your child know how to cross the road safely with their scooter? Do they know how to dismount, check first, and walk their scooter across the road? You might spend some time on a fine weekend or in the holidays with your child, checking they are being safe on their scooters as they travel around and about. Speaking with our community constable, Constable Dann recently, he talked about ‘shadowing’ your child, letting them show you what they know, how they judge the space between cars, and being ready to step in and coach them if they need it.

Staffing Update

I am thrilled to announce that Sandy Wills will continue to be the Room 17 classroom teacher for the rest of this year, and Sarah Littler will continue in the Associate Principal (senior school) position, with Blair Elliott managing our patrols and school camps.

Next term Jenny Neill joins our Cashmere Avenue School staff again as our New Entrant teacher, working in Room 1. She has been spending time in Room 14 over the last few weeks, getting to know those children who will move through with her from next term.

Health Curriculum Consultation

Thank you to those who were able to join us at our second information consultation evening on Thursday 23 March in Room 12. As part of our health consultation and review process, we are sharing a document with our Cashmere Avenue School community today, that outlines how we will deliver the Health and Physical Education Curriculum. Within this document is our draft annual plan for the delivery of the Ministry of Education guidelines, ‘Relationships and Sexuality Education’. We know you have been looking forward to reading it- it’s a long one with lots of information! This plan was reviewed in response to the feedback we gained in November last year during a consultation evening, however we would like to hear further from you on our plan for how we deliver the ‘Relationships and Sexuality Education’ guidelines. We invite you to share your feedback through an anonymous Google Form Survey Link. We look forward to hearing from you through the survey by Monday 24 April.
