Kaitiakitanga Sharing Session

Admin Cashmere —

Last Friday morning, the whole school had a wonderful Kaitiakitanga sharing session. This was a time for the children to share their learning around our new Kaitiaki Tui and what being a kaitiaki really means.

There was a real buzz around the school as our tamariki shared their learning with confidence and pride. Children took on being guardians of many different things from creating new systems for the PE shed, developing our school's wetland, looking into ocean pollution and what we can do about it, creating dog biscuits to sell to raise funds for the SPCA, and many more wonderful ideas.

Children were able to share how they have been kaitiaki at CAS to both their buddy class and to their parents. Parents were really impressed with the level of critical thinking our children had engaged with as they went through the learning process.

All the children deserved to feel very proud of their efforts. Our values and capabilities were clearly evident and we all have a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Kaitiaki. Ka mau te wehi!
