Kia ora te whānau

It has been so delightful to welcome your children back to school for Term 2! We hope you had a safe and happy holiday break. We’ve had a busy start to the term with school photos, cross country, band auditions, and starting rehearsals for our upcoming production. It has been lovely to visit classrooms this week and chat with them about their learning around Anzac Day. You might have noticed the crosses in the garden at the front of the school with the names of those from this area that gave their lives in WWI and WWII.

Our school production, with our Year 3-6 tamariki is in Week 5, 22- 24 May. We will have more information about tickets and the showtimes coming soon. Before then, we would love your support with costume design and making, props, set and more! Please email the office (office@cashmere-ave.school.nz) if you are able to help us - thank you, we really appreciate your support.

At the end of last term, some of our senior kapa haka tamariki were part of a hikoi to Khandallah New World to thank Mike and Lisa for all their amazing support over the years. Our kapa haka performed five waiata. We have appreciated everything they have done to help Cashmere Avenue School over the years and wish them all the very best. Aroha mai, Aroha atu. Ka nui te aroha mō to kōrua kaha me te manawanui ki te āwhina, ngā kaupopa e pā ana ki tēnei kura. Arohanui Mike and Lisa!

Health Curriculum Consultation

Many thanks for those that completed our Health Curriculum consultation survey. We received lots of responses - thank you! We will collate your feedback and use this to inform how we teach the curriculum. One common theme of your responses was an interest in some of the detail of what we are covering, particularly in the area of Relationships and Sexuality Education, so that you can follow up on discussions and information at home. Before we start these particular units, teachers will share what they are teaching, and we will be able to also share helpful links, books, and resources that you can use at home for those important conversations.
