The Waterslide by Holly R

I took a deep breath as I joined the back of the long twisting queue. One person after another came up shivering, but smiling. Every inch closer I moved the harder the butterflies flapped. Closer and closer. The tall ladder loomed above me, casting a dark shadow over everything.

Finally it was my turn. I slowly took hold of the first rung. One hand after another. Up,up,up. It felt as though I was climbing the ladder of doom. Deep breaths, I told myself. When I reached the top I looked down the steep blue plastic slide into cold dark water…

Slowly I sat down at the start of the slide. Just looking down made me sick. Well I thought, there's no turning back now. Without another thought I pushed myself forwards. The wind whipped back my hair and everything turned to blurred colors.

Splash! I hit the water with force and water was sprayed everywhere. As my head popped up from the depths my face was lit with a smile. Swimming back to shore seaweed tickled my feet as I grabbed hold of the ladder. As soon as I was out of the water I rushed to the back of the queue to do it all over again!

Dear Diary by Ellie

Today I had my first day at camp.  I started off with riding on the bus on a one-hour trip to Forest lakes.  It was boring!  When I arrived, to my surprise another school was there!  We went and explored our cabins, unpacked, then had lunch.

Afterwards we collected a map and explored the campsite writing in the names of different places when we found them.

I had orienteering next we went with Sarah and found little white and orange land marks which had letters on them that we had to put into our sheets!  I got two super campers for good sportsmanship.  I put them in a bucket so at the end of the night each teacher would pull out five slips and if you were lucky and got pulled out you got a FRUIT BURST!

Then I had kayaking with my dad and I fell off!  I head to rescue other people's paddles and kayaks from if they fell off and they were floating away.

I've really enjoyed my first day.

Waterslide by Shreya

"Help! Heellp!" My tummy lurched into my throat, my screaming pitching higher and higher... I'm never going on a water slide again I thought. This was terrifying, it's like jumping off a skyscraper into a four metre deep lake full of green snakes pulling you down. At least, that's what it looked like. It felt way worse ...My back hit the water with a deafening SLAP! Green seaweed wrapped around my legs, I was paralysed and I couldn't breathe. Suddenly something brought me back to the present. I kicked upwards and took a beautiful deep breath of air. I was told the last words I said were, "I'm never doing that again", before sinking under water.

Camp Artwork

At camp children sketched a landscape and did some leaf rubbings. Here's some of our art: Hunter-Lily, Sabine, (sketches) and Jai (leaf rubbing).

Back at school Room 19 used their sketching from camp to inspire our Keith Haring figures on a watercolour background. check out Charlotte's coloured sketch and watercolour.
