Year 11
Tē tōia, tē haumatia
Nothing can be achieved without a plan, a workforce, and a way of doing things.
As we wrap up Term 3, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our Year 11 ākonga. This year has been filled with opportunities and challenges, and I’ve been truly impressed by how each of you has stepped up and committed to your plan for success this year so far.
With very few weeks between now and the summit of Year 11 and NCEA Level 1, it is important to remember how preparation will support your success in the examinations. You have already faced many questions and uncertainties, but by focusing on what you can control, rather than what you can not, I am confident you will effectively manage any stress and achieve at your highest level.
Speaking of success, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the incredible achievements of this cohort during the last term. Between an amazing winter tournament week, winning regional speech, jazz, and dance competitions, thousands of dollars being raised for the 40-hour challenge, and both South Island and National cycling awards, this cohort continues to lift expectations and represent the school with pride.
Our Year 11 Council, led by Dhyan Patel and Helena Pirnea, with deputies Charlotte Clatworthy and Utkarsh Singh, has done an outstanding job this year creating opportunities and memories for the cohort. The last Year 11 event was the badminton challenge held in week 10 of term 3. From Monday to Wednesday during lunchtime, we had a great number of students participating in and enjoying some friendly competition. Congratulations to everyone who came along and to the council for yet another successful event.
I also want to express my gratitude to the whānau, caregivers, and external supporters who have been instrumental in each student's progress. Your support makes a tremendous difference. Let’s carry this momentum into the final examiniations and finish strong!
