Upcoming School Board Elections – Timeline & Important Information

Cashmere High School is preparing for the upcoming School Board elections and warmly encourages parents and caregivers to consider standing for this important governance role. We’ve already had interest from members of our community, and we welcome more enquiries.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact the Principal’s Personal Assistant, Bianca Edmonds at ekb@cashmere.school.nz.

What Does a Board Member Do?

At Cashmere High School, the Board governs the school. This involves:

  • Supporting the Principal

  • Setting the strategic direction

  • Overseeing finances and property

  • Monitoring policy and compliance

  • Working together to ensure our students thrive within a supportive, high-quality learning environment

Time Commitment

Board members attend around 8–9 board meetings per year and should allow time for reading board papers and staying informed. On average, members can expect to commit approximately 8 hours per month. Attendance at key school events is also encouraged.

Makeup of the Board

The Cashmere High School Board is made up of:

  • Five elected parent representatives

  • One elected staff representative

  • One elected student representative

  • The Principal

How to Apply

To stand as a candidate, you’ll need to complete a nomination form. A link to the online nomination form will be emailed to parents on the school database before the 27th July 2025. While no specific experience is required it is appreciated that CHS is a high performing school and board members should show a willingness to contribute, collaborate, and uphold the values of our school.

We especially encourage nominations from individuals with experience in:

  • Governance

  • Finance

  • Risk & compliance

  • Health & Safety

  • Strategic planning

  • Law
