Principal's Fortnightly Kōrero
COVID Update
At present our COVID number are very low. However, we are still facing unprecedented staff and student illness and therefore we need to continue our rostering home of year groups. Next week we will be rostering home our Year 13s. Please also note that we will continue to wear face masks while we are rostering home students.
Support Staff Week
This week we acknowledged the wonderful work of our support staff. No school can function without a support staff and we are incredibly grateful and honoured to have such dedicated and committed people supporting our school community.

Who’s who at Cashmere High School - James O’Connell, Chairman of the Board of Trustees
Kia Ora, my name is James O'Connell and I’m in the privileged position of Chair of the Cashmere High School Board. I joined the CHS Board in 2021 and became Chair in March 2022. I’m a CHS parent and I’ve lived in Cashmere for twenty years. I believe the quality of our local school carries enormous influence in our daily lives and future, in fact, it’s difficult to think of a more important contributor. Our school charter provides a strong vision for our school and I'm excited for current and future students. The CHS charter alongside the school’s outstanding leadership, teachers and support staff helps create a 'leading learning' environment and its fantastic to witness such a diverse range of talent from students.
I own a business coaching and training company that keeps me engaged with issues of governance, management, and issues of efficiency and productivity. I work alongside businesses across several countries. My favourite form of escapism is walking the South Island’s backcountry with my wife Alexis. My other interests include open water swimming, gardening, and a good cup of tea.
