Cashmere High School —

The level 4 lock down in August certainly felt like it came out of the blue and definitely caused some disruption for our students. Our teachers arranged zoom meetings for the students, their whanau and our teacher aides so that everybody could keep in touch. But the lockdown didn’t mean that we had to miss out on all of our annual activities that we look forward to each year.

We had two of our students attend the school formal this year. Ben Johnston and Shalene Bhoodhoo enjoyed the festivities.

The annual Secondary School Boccia Championships took place this term in our school gymnasium. Parafed, New Zealand has taken over the reins from The Halberg Trust. Sadly, we did not come away with any placements in the competition this year, but our students gave it their all and they had fun catching up with students from other Christchurch secondary schools.

Some of our students enjoyed visits to The Southern Centre at the Pioneer Stadium this term. The students get to try out switch equipment and practise their skills on equipment that we don’t have in our centre.
