Wellbeing at Cashmere Primary School

Gavin Burn —

The Board of Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team have begun to review all of our policies and procedures around wellbeing (including the school’s management of bullying) to ensure the wellbeing of our students and staff.

The school takes bullying very seriously and recognises the need both to take action when it becomes aware that it is happening, and to be proactive in ensuring its systems and procedures are as effective as they can be to deal with these behaviours when they occur.

This working group has a series of questions and will begin with:

Is what we are doing currently to promote and respond to student wellbeing working?

Our next steps are to work collaboratively to develop a plan for this internal review which will assess what is and what is not working, and then to determine what changes are needed.

Therefore, we will be seeking community involvement to help assess what is working, and what changes could be made to improve our processes around how we manage both student and staff wellbeing in our school. We will be keeping the community informed as to how we are progressing. We realise we cannot do this alone. If the school is to be successful we ALL have to take responsibility as we work together to ensure all students feel that they are in a safe environment which allows them to learn effectively and to fulfill their potential. We hope that you will work with us to achieve these goals.

If you have any concerns about the physical or emotional well being of your child at school, please let us know. You should contact your child’s classroom teacher in the first instance or alternatively, our deputy principal Cathy Andrew or principal Gavin Burn.
