It has come to our attention that the (2016) scoring system we used this year to determine our placings (1st, 2nd and 3rd) for Athletics was not the most effective for identifying our age group champions.

We are acknowledging this and communicating that we are going to change the system for both this year (retrospectively) and next year. We will be moving to a system that is more widely used across Canterbury. The main difference in this new system is the greater weighting given to first place getters and that we are only scoring 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

We are changing the system now as we believe this is the right thing to do for the children who placed and should have placed in this years athletics. We will not be taking any badges or certificates away from the children however we will be presenting more based on the changes in placings that have resulted from our change in scoring system.
