Staffing Update : International Learning Support

Gavin Burn —

This week we welcome both Hui Ping and Suzy Boddy to our team. Please read on to find out a little more about them and their role in the school.

Hui Ping

Pīrere Team: International Learning Support

Hui Ping will be working in the Pīrere Team to both support our International Learners and support the teaching and learning programmes across the team. She will be working in the team Monday - Thursday (Danielle Le Beau will continue to support in this role on Fridays).

A Brief Intro :

Kia ora, I'm Hui Ping. I grew up in the multi-cultural society of Malaysia and have always loved languages, especially English! So I was really blessed to be able to have my secondary school years in an international school and in New Zealand too! This love for English was carried over to my career where I spent over ten years in the publishing industry, from a writer to an administrator in Malaysia and in Christchurch. More recently, I have been an ESOL teacher for three years to mostly Malaysian Chinese students and I loved it! So I am really looking forward to working with the students at Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū and being part of the Cashmere Primary whanau.

Suzy Boddy

Kātua Team: International Learning Support and International Coordinator

Suzy will be working in the Kātua Team to both support our International Learners and support the teaching and learning programmes across the team. In addition to this Suzy will begin a new role for our school, that of International Coordinator. Suzy will be working Monday - Friday.

A Brief Intro :

My name is Suzy Boddy and I am really looking forward to joining the Cashmere Primary School team shortly. The Boddy family consists of my husband Aaron, and our three children Toby, Max and Katie. Aaron fly’s and fixes helicopters for Christchurch Helicopters, Toby is learning how to fly and fix fixed-wing planes, Max is doing a building apprenticeship, and Katie is in Year 10 at high school this year. We live just over the hill in Governors Bay and walk our little dog up Dyers Pass road most days. We love all outdoor activities and spend a lot of time at the beach, as our children are all keen surfers. I have an accounting and administrative background but have always worked with children out of work. Our family spent five years living in Zambia, Africa with an NGO. We treasured our time there and learnt a lot about ourselves and the beauty and frustrations of living in a totally foreign culture. We had many adventures. In Zambia, I taught reading and art at a local village school and also taught English to our farm workers wives. I am really looking forward to working with the International Students and their families and I thank you in advance for making me feel welcome.
