2023 Whanau Reconnect - Bookings Close 3pm today
School will finish at 1pm on Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th of July (both days).
Need to Know
School will finish at 1pm on Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th of July (both days). Please also note on both nights that the school will be closed at 6.15pm.
We ask that all whānau pick up their children earlier on these days to enable us to offer a greater range of times to suit students, staff and whānau.
If you require your child to be supervised on either day please let the office know by emailing office@cashmereprimary.school.nz no later than Wednesday the 19th of July.
How To Book
This year we are using the school bookings feature from within the Hero App. You will need to download the Hero app (google or apple) in order to access the booking system. The School Bookings icon will be visible on your home screen. This is the first time we are using this, therefore there may be some teething issues. If you have any problems please contact the office.
Bookings are now open and will remain open until 3pm Wednesday the 19th of July.
Please also note that Penny Mouat and Connor Mackinnon will be running their learning conferences at a later date. We will be back in touch when we have confirmed dates for these two staff members. Nicky Tudor will be running her conferences over three nights.
Prior to Whānau Reconnect
Please ensure you have logged into your child’s Hero account and viewed your child’s current progressions. If you are unsure of how to log-in to your child’s account you may need to reset your password ‘using the forgot password’ link.
Please also refer to our reporting to whānau overview (click here) that explains how we report to whānau across the school year, including detailed information about how to unpack and interpret your child’s 2023 Report.
Our Whānau Reconnect - Supporting Information
Our whānau reconnect conferences provide an opportunity for learners and their whānau to meet with their homeroom teacher and discuss student progress, achievement and wellbeing. Whānau can choose to either connect in person at school, or, online via GoogleMeet if required.
Student contribution to these conversations is valued, however, we do understand some families prefer to meet without their child present.
Your child’s homeroom teacher will lead a discussion on your child's current curriculum goals (progressions that have been set in reading, writing, and number & algebra) and what your child, you, and the teacher might do to support these goals. Teachers will be having a conversation with you to ensure that you understand the information contained in your child’s progress summary (located through the icon ‘2023 report’) on HERO. This is also an opportunity to discuss the wider curriculum, the key competencies, our school values, and to reflect on the aspirations and focus areas discussed at the Whānau Connect conference in Term 1.
We invite you to spend time in the learning spaces before or after your learning conversation so that your child can share and celebrate their learning with you. We believe that it is important for students to have this voice in their learning and be able to share the things that they are proud of with you.
Please also note If you have one of the last bookings with a teacher you will need to celebrate and share with your child in the learning space prior to the time you have booked with the homeroom teacher.
We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Ngā mihi
