Welcome Back

Gavin Burn —

A welcome back, update and thank you from our principal.

Kia ora Whānau

Welcome to the 2017 school year!  Welcome back to those who are returning and a very warm welcome to our new school families that start with us today, new entrants, children from other schools, other parts of the country and those from overseas.

We have had a great start to the year already with the opening of our new building (Kāramu) and our newly refurbished spaces (Mānuka and Kānuka).

What was most important about the opening of these new spaces was seeing the children as they turned up to school. Yes we are excited about our new learning environments but let's not forget who it is for, our children, for they are at the heart of everything we do.

I must take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the redevelopment to date. To HRS and the team who have worked all summer long, thank you!  We all appreciate your hard work enabling our learning spaces to open on time. To the local Ministry of Education, thank you for your support and leadership throughout the project so far. Thank you also to our local businesses and suppliers who have also worked with us on some very short timeframes, especially BDL who have supplied and installed a lot of our Toshiba technology.

In addition to the above I must acknowledge and thank all of the staff who have been moving, setting up, organising and preparing the learning spaces ready for the start of the term. This has been a mammoth task and I know that all of our school community appreciate your dedication and hard work.

Finally, thank you also to you, our wider school whānau for your ongoing support as we continue through another year of redevelopment. Please feel free to drop in and see me for a chat or email if you have any questions, concerns or feedback to share.

I look forward to catching up with you all over the coming weeks.
