Congratulations to our Kahukura Chorale representatives!

Kate Divett —

I am delighted to congratulate these seven talented singers, who will join the Kahukura Chorale this year.

The Kahukura Chorale is an auditioned group of singers, who represent the schools in our Kahukura Cluster - Addington, West Spreydon, Thorrington, Sacred Heart, Somerfield, Christchurch South Intermediate, and Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū. Chorale is a collaborative group, co-conducted by Kate Revell (Chch South Intermediate), and myself, Kate Divett.

For those who are sports-minded, this is the musical equivalent of a regional representative sports team. These students are highly skilled young musicians.

Chorale will gather weekly to rehearse for the Kahukura Music Festival, learning harmonies to complement the massed choirs as well as their own performance items. Kahukura Chorale also performs in Voices Festival in Term 3, where we were highly praised in 2018.

Our successful auditionees are:

Anna Carter (Pīrere)

Lucy Ellis (Kātua)

Scarlett Thomas (Kātua)

And returning members from 2018:

Hana McMillan (Kātua)

Lucy Martin (Kātua)

Miriam Geddes (Kātua)

Ruby Geddes (Kātua)
