On Monday, March 27th, a team of four year eight students went to Cobham Intermediate to compete in the Kids Lit Quiz competition—Maddie Carter, Isla McLarin, Elizabeth Milne and Toby O’Neill.

The Lit Quiz, also known as “The Sport of Reading,” is an annual literature competition for 10-13 year old students who love reading. In the competition they are quizzed on authors, book titles, and anything to do with children’s literature. There are ten rounds with ten questions each and each team can choose one round to earn double points on.

Overall the year eight team earned 86 points out of 110, winning out of 70 other teams and beating this year’s previous high score of 72.

The team will be competing in the national finals in Wellington on May 28. The winner from that round will go on to the world finals in Canada and represent New Zealand.
