Enrolment Scheme (Home Zone)

Gavin Burn —

Cashmere Primary Te Pae Kererū has a Ministry of Education enrolment scheme. Children within the boundaries of that zone have absolute right of entry.

Priority for children, who live out of zone, is given in order: to siblings of children currently attending; siblings of children who previously attended; children of staff members at the school and all other children.

All students who live within the home zone described below (and shown on the nzschools.tki.org.nz map) shall be entitled to enrol at the school. Type Cashmere Primary School into the search box and the school zone will be displayed.

The number of children entering school for the first time (at age 5 years) should be about 50-60 each year. Efforts are made to have pre enrolments by 01 November in the year prior to their 5th birthday. Should there then be vacancies some out-of-zone enrolments may gain entry through a ballot being undertaken to select any additional children. An advertisement will be placed in The Press providing details of out-of-zone places prior to the ballot. The criteria above will be used for all out-of-zone enrolments. The enrolment of out-of-zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education Act 1989.
