Super10 Report

Katua Team —

This year the Kātua team have the Youthtown Super10 coaches in on a Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the Super10 tournament.

Over the next 3 terms we will have all of our Kātua team (except our Motivationz Sports Academy) experience this ‘give it a go’ tournament with the support of Youthtown.

On Friday the 24th of March we had 19 of our Kātua team who were in the Term One group participate in the sports tournament at Chisnallwood Intermediate. All of the group played 3 sports over the course of six hours. These sports were futsal, basketball and rippa rugby. These are a few sports that lots of the boys and girls across Christchurch had never played before. We played school teams came from a variety of year 7 and 8 boys and girls from across participating Super10 schools (both intermediate and full primary). The games were really competitive and fun and exciting.

In the futsal Cashmere came out undefeated in 6 games. George van leeuwen quoted: “My favorite sport was futsal because everyone was friendly and had great sportsmanship”. The basketball for Cashmere was also very successful with only one loss. Rippa was the hard part with not many rugby/touch players going but Cashmere still pulled through with one team drawing with Te Waka who had won every single game until that point. Cashmere did very well with the two teams winning fair play and 2nd place. Everyone enjoyed it and was happy with their experience.
