Girls' & Boys' Prep School

Mrs Brigit McCormack —

It was wonderful to welcome the students back to school after their break last Monday. They all seemed to be super charged and ready for the challenges ahead in the final term of 2018.

We had a number of students who represented Canterbury in various tournaments and competitions around the region over the break.

Congratulations to them all for being such great ambassadors for the region and our school. We had a few notable achievements including Lachie (Y8) being chosen for the  South Island Primary Schools U65kg tournament team. Una (Y8) winning gold medals in the pool in the Halberg Junior Disability Games, Lucy (Y7) placing 6th in the SI Inter Regional X-Country Championships and winning a Silver medal with her sister, Nicole (Y8) in the team event.

We welcomed our Choristers back from their overseas tour of Australia and Japan. We look forward to the boys sharing their experiences with the school. As with our athletes, they proved to be great ambassadors for our school, region and NZ.

The teachers got together before the end of the holiday to work on planning a full and varied programme for the students. There is plenty of exciting learning that will take place both in and out of the classroom environment this term.

Our X-tend programme kicked off last Friday.  It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces back at school after meeting challenges and participating in new adventures. Thank you to all of the parents who are able to help with transport and assist with the activities. We would not be able to run the programme without their help.

This week we look forward to the Y6/7 classes exploring the River Avon by kayak, The Inspire Him Student Seminar and final preparations for Athletics Sports.

Finally, best of luck to the students who are performing in the Christchurch Music Festival this week.
