Ms Brigit McCormack & Mr Simon Lean-Massey —

With the swimming sports out of the way, our attention turned to camps, sports challenges, and Xtend.

Week IV saw the Y6&8 camps take place in what could be said to be “trying” conditions. After a wet start to the week, thanks to the remnants of Cyclone Gita, Y8 managed to get out and about to see the stunning views of Mt Cook, which was extremely popular with the tourists due to it being the Chinese New Year. At the same time, Y6 was enjoying the Hanmer experience, particularly the mountain biking, which secured some extra recruits for this option in Xtend.

A weekend’s rest was all that was required for our sportsmen and women to prepare to be off to Waihi for a bit of stiff competition. This was a challenging warm-up for our Medbury matches this week.

Our Xtend programme commenced last Friday, and all reported a great start. It was fantastic to see all the support from the parent community, which is what makes these ventures possible. A big thank you on behalf of all the staff and pupils. Well done to all who took on new challenges and pushed themselves to expand their comfort zones.
