From the Chaplain

Mrs Teresa Kundycki-Carrell —

Sunday 9 September 4:30pm School Service in the Cathedral

Kia ora Koutou

School life is busy and it can be hard to find time to be quiet and be refreshed. Refreshment can come in many forms.

Last week I attended a conference for Chaplains and RE teachers from Anglican and Presbyterian schools. The conference was based at Knox College in Dunedin.

The times of quiet came at our chapel services, held in the beautiful Knox College Chapel, where I was able to be still in the presence of God.

The times of refreshment came in the form of the speakers and the conversations during break times.

The theme was On the Thermals of Grace. A highlight was a visit to the Albatross Centre, where we saw an albatross soaring above us, chicks practising using their wings in preparation for leaving land, and a mother bird feeding her chick.

I came home from the conference encouraged that we have a great school in which the Anglican Character, Chapel Services and RE lessons play an important part and are valued. Thank you all for your part in this.

The Virtues we learn about each week help us to show our Christian Anglican Character in our relationships with others.

Week 4: Peacefulness - Rangimarie is giving up the love of power for the power of love.

Week 5: Perseverance - Pumau is failing 19 times and succeeding the 20th. Julie Andrews
