Miss Penny Tattershaw —

Avoiding Tragedy

A parent reported a heart-stopping moment last week when a child ran across the road from the Tuck Shop Gate to the UBS gate, as the parent was backing.

Children are not to cross at this crossing when the gates are open – ie: in the morning before 9.30am or afternoon after 2.30pm – for this very reason. The coned crossing at the Library end of Chester should be used.

Please remind your child of this and help us to prevent a tragic accident.

Prep Chapel Choirs

Thank you to the majority who are arriving on time for morning rehearsals: 7.55am in the hall. Unfortunately, a few continue to be late, which is obviously very frustrating for the choir directors and other choristers. With so much music to learn this term for the wonderful services that we will all enjoy, it is vital that all choristers are ready to start singing at 8.00am.

Please help your chorister be on time, and if you need support in this, please speak to the choir director, class teacher or Miss Tattershaw.

Return of 2016 Cups

Tomorrow is the deadline for the return of any remaining cups awarded at last year’s Summer Assembly or Prize Giving. Parents have been emailed the details of those cups still missing in action. Your prompt assistance is appreciated.

School Art Exhibition Next Week

As the galleries around school illustrate, and the spectacular Y7 Wearable Art Show demonstrated last term, the standard and variety of art achieved by our pupils is fabulous, so the Art Exhibition is always a highlight in the school calendar. Each pupil attending specialist art lessons will have several pieces on display in the hall so do allow plenty of viewing time.

Opening hours:

  • Monday 6 November 3.30 – 5.00pm
  • Tuesday 7 – Thursday 9 November, 8.00am – 5.00pm

Knowledge of School History in Week VII

This year the KoSH test (Y6-8) will be held on Thursday 30 November. This date is an addition to the calendar. There are cups for pupils who achieve the highest score in each of the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, which are presented at Summer Assembly.

Uniform Booklet

The Uniform Booklet has been updated, and we have included all that extra information which never seemed to be in one useful place, from hair to swimming caps, jewellery to name labels, sports’ shoes to make-up.

This booklet is available on GrammarNet > Information > Uniform; or if you wish a hard copy, please pick one up from the office or Uniform Shop; or you can click here CGS Uniform Booklet 2017

As always, the experts in uniform requirements are Ms Linda Hazel and her parent volunteers in the Uniform Shop. Please don’t hesitate to pop in and see them: Monday & Friday 8.00-9.30am and 2.30-3.30pm.

You can also ask your child’s class teacher who has a copy of the booklet.
