Athletic Sports on Thursday, Week II
Sports’ Day is on Thursday 26 October at Christ’s College, 10.00am-3.45pm, (save day: Friday). The Prep Schools’ heats were held today – although facility limitations have restricted the discus qualification to Thursday (boys) and Friday (girls) – and the Sports’ Day programme will be published on GrammarNet as soon as it is finalized. Please be patient – our much-loved Athletics’ computer programme designed by our former headmaster Malcolm Long is beginning to show its age and needs coaxing.

Pupils come to school next Thursday at the normal time but in summer PE uniform:

  • House shirt (Prep); PE shirt (Junior)
  • PE shorts
  • white socks
  • full tracksuit (both parts! - Prep); Fleece & black tracksuit pants (Junior)
  • sports shoes

In their Sports' Bag, each pupil requires:

  • sunhat
  • sunblock
  • 1L drink bottle - water only, please
  • sufficient food for a busy day of activity: morning tea snack, lunch, afternoon snack
  • beanie hat (optional – but useful on a cool day)
  • thermals (optional)
  • fleece / rugby shirt (optional for Prep)
  • alternative fleece or woollen jersey (optional)

We look forward to welcoming parents and other supporters throughout the day at College. If you wish to attend, please respect College’s request that we do not enter through the main College gate but use the Botanical Gardens’ gate in the College brick wall…enter the Gardens through the Museum gate, then follow the museum building around and beyond the former Robert McDougal Gallery to the small gate in the red brick wall which gives access to Upper (the College playing field.)

Prep pupils sit in their Houses for this event, while supporters have their own (less loud!) seating area towards the track finish line.

Lunch is at 12.30pm approximately after the Junior School and Pre-School races, should you wish your child to join you on the Archery Lawn in the Gardens. Events restart promptly at 1.15pm. Please be vigilant as to your child’s whereabouts while in the park. Pupils without parents will remain inside the College grounds to be supervised by staff. Tuck Shop is not available on Sports’ Day.
