General Notices

CGS —

Thank You!

To those many parents who accommodated the girls from Craighead Diocesan School during their interschool exchange with the Girls’ School. The event was a great success, despite the weather’s best efforts: Plan C and the girls’ flexibility proved just as successful as Plan A.

Wearing Our Uniform Properly

Thank you to those who read our request for help last week regarding the wearing of correct uniform. We are grateful for your support. For those who missed last week’s notice, here are the key points:

  • Our school campus covers two blocks, and so a tracksuit top is essential on downpour days as our pupils move frequently between buildings. Without a waterproof to wear, they sit wet in classrooms. Umbrellas are not an alternative – we cannot accommodate 200 umbrellas dripping at doorways.
  • As you will appreciate, a blazer is expensive, and not a substitute for a warm item. Blazers are hung in lockers at the start of the day to preserve their longevity.
  • A jersey/guernsey is the uniform item which is worn in class to keep warm, not a blazer.
  • A fleece is part of the outdoor PE uniform and not worn inside as a jersey/guernsey substitute.
  • All pupils need their full tracksuit (Prep) or trackpants/fleece (Junior School) in school daily, in case of a civil defence evacuation.

This Term’s Cathedral Service

This term’s school service is on Sunday 10 September, 4.30pm.

As has been advised now for four weeks, this service is compulsory for all Y1-8 pupils. Non-chorister pupils will sit with their classes and home room teachers.

The pupils’ reporting times are:

  • 3.45pm: Cathedral & Chapel Choristers
  • 4.00pm: Sacristans & Junior School Choir
  • 4.15pm: Remainder of School

The service will finish by 5.30pm. Please be on time. If you arrive before the service finishes, please wait outside, as numerous people opening and closing the door is highly disruptive to the service. Pupils must be collected from the Cathedral foyer. No pupil will be permitted to walk unaccompanied from the Cathedral to a waiting car. Parking is available in the streets around the Cathedral.

Please note that food may not be eaten in the Cathedral during the service.

This is term’s school service at the Cathedral is one of Baptism. If you would like your child to be baptized, or to discuss this matter further, please contact the Chaplain, Rev Anne Price as soon as possible: pricea@cathedralgrammar.school.nz.

WAMM, 15 September

A note for the diary: on Friday 15 September the Y7&8 pupils perform in WAMM – a concert of Words, Art, Music & Movement at the Cathedral, 7.00-8.30pm. This concert includes the Y7 Wearable Art runway. Parents, family and friends of the Y7&8 pupils are warmly invited to watch the children perform. Pupils and parents from other year-groups are most welcome to attend, too.

Overdue Cups

Pupils holding cups from last year’s Music Competition and Winter Sports’ & Cultural Awards assembly are asked to return these to the office – polished! – by next Wednesday, please.
