Y6: Senior Blazer for 2018

Y6 parents of pupils entering Y7 next year, please look out for a letter in your child’s bag detailing the process for creating or purchasing your child’s Senior Blazer for their Y7&8 years. If the hard copy of the letter becomes mysteriously misplaced en route home, a copy can be viewed on GrammarNet > Current Notices.

Girls’ Chapel Choir to sing Evensong, 7 December

After their wonderful performance last term, the Girls’ Chapel Choir has been invited again to sing Evensong at the Cathedral. The date is Thursday 7 December. Please add this to your diary. The girls will follow the same schedule as previously: a quick afternoon tea, walking down after school to rehearse, then sing the service at 5.30pm. The service will finish at 6.00pm.

As 7 December is Mufti Day and BOSS Fair, the girls will need to remember their white shirts and socks, and black shoes, as well as their robes.

Library, Literature, Text Books & Team Shirts Now Due

All library, literature studies, text books and team shirts (ie: those shirts issued by sports’ staff for tennis, touch, athletics and triathlon) are due back this week. Please assist in the return of these as soon as possible.

Advent Carol Service this Sunday

The school family is warmly invited to attend the Cathedral’s Advent Service of Seven Lessons and Carols heralding the advent – coming – of the baby Christ Jesus. The service starts at 7.30pm. Our Cathedral choristers are working very hard in preparation for this service which is amongst the most glorious in the church’s calendar.

Christmas Collection for the City Mission Next Week

Each year we hold a collection for the City Mission to help with their Christmas food drive. We will be collecting food in classes next week. Please assist with robust dried goods (pasta, rice, soups, fruits, nuts) and cans of meats, soups, vegetables and fruit. Biscuits and cakes are to be avoided as they are often squashed and damaged in transit. If you wish to donate treats, packets of lollies, bags of mini chocolate bars and the like travel well. Any fresh produce should be brought in on Friday 8 December and taken straight to the hall.

School Carol Service, Monday 11 December, 7.15pm

The Carol Service reminds us of the true Christmas story, so easily forgotten in the season of hurry-up-and-shop.

This service is compulsory for all pupils in Years 1-8. Non-choir pupils sit with their class teachers. There is street parking in the area around the Cathedral.

Reporting times for the evening service are:

●   6.30pm: Cathedral choristers; Boys’ and Girls’ Chapel Choirs, Junior Choir, Sacristans

●   7.00pm: Remaining pupils

Unaccompanied pupils may be collected from in front of the Cathedral from 8.15pm approximately. Pupils may not walk to cars unaccompanied after the service.

Poetry Reading

The Poetry Finals are next week, Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 December, in the hall. Parents and friends are warmly invited to attend. Parking is on the cobbles outside the library, NOT on the road – your will get a ticket!
