From the Board Chair

Mr David Beck —

Kia ora,

The board recently spent a Saturday looking at our strategic plan and reviewing our work on school publicity materials. We are very excited that an update to our website is now ready for launch and a video showcasing the school is set to be released, and we thank those involved in its preparation. We also reflected on what we are about and what Grammar stands for. This was a useful exercise to emphasise that we continue to be a school with a future-focused learning culture wedded to the values of good citizenship and the encouragement of community service, allied with a robust academic approach to education that incorporates and values the traditions of the school’s foundation and maintains a strong connection to the Cathedral and our hard working choristers.

We also took the opportunity to work with the Principal and senior staff to affirm their work on teaching and learning strategies and ongoing focus on a new curriculum that we are rolling out, including sessions with the community to explain what this work entails and what its practical significance is to children in our care. Significant effort has gone into ensuring that the curriculum is coherent, up to date and builds upon our rich traditions. The curriculum team have done a tremendous job in developing this, and we now will concentrate on practically explaining the evolution of the curriculum to the community.

With prize giving around a month away, it is time to celebrate and thank the teaching and school support staff for the tremendous work they have undertaken this year in support of your children’s learning,  but also to recognise that the end of year period gets quite frantic for all of us and that there is still a lot of organising to be done for various events. Please be patient in ensuring that we have an end of year that has a focus on family, keeping safe and reflect on the true meaning and message of Christmas.

God Bless

David Beck and Dean Lawrence Kimberley
