The Independent Schools Swimming Zones was recently held at Wharenui Swimming Centre and is an annual swimming competition where students from independent schools compete against each other. It is a highly competitive event where students are able to showcase their swimming skills and abilities in different categories. This event not only encourages healthy competition but also promotes sportsmanship and teamwork among students.
Cathedral Grammar had 32 students participating in the event who had all qualified through the girls and boys swim finals. It was tough competition but they all tried their best.
We had some excellent performances by Liam Niu who won Y6 50m Freestyle and Breaststroke, Aubrey Doney who won Open Butterfly and 50m Backstroke. Freddie de Costabadie also did well placing first in the Y6 50m Backstroke and second in the 50m Freestyle. The Y6 Relay team also placed first (Liam N, Freddie d, Indi O, Aria L), Well done to those who placed 1st or 2nd in their event and will now represent the Independent School’s zone at the Primary Sport Canterbury Competition at the end of this term
